Happy 4^th of July!!!

Have a fun-filled, safe holiday!

We had a lot of great swimming this past week. Even with the rain delay last Wednesday against Darnestown, we were able to finish the entire meet! We had All-Star times from Matthew Hauri (50 Breast) and Caroline Kettl (50Free).

On Saturday, with a lost to Manchester Farms (430-362), we still had a number of swimmers with best times including All-Star times from T.J. Brockway (50 Back), Kelsey Liu (50 Back) and Raymond Shen (25 Breast). And a special congratulation goes to Katie Rogers for her team records against Upper County in the 50 Free and 100 IM and again against Manchester Farms for breaking her own record in the 100 IM.

On Sunday, we came in 5^th overall in the A Relays with 2 teams advancing to the All-Star Relays on July 28^th:

1.) Mixed 13/14 Free - Katie Rogers, Kevin Schwartzman, Sara Whiteis, T.J. Brockway

2.) 13/14 Girls Medley - Katie Rogers, Kelsey Liu, Caroline Kettl, Sara Whiteis

`B' Meet – Our next B Meet is this Tuesday, July 3^rd at Germantown. Please arrive at 5:15pm and remember to check in with Dyann or Tim. We were told that there may not be much seating available poolside, so you may want to bring a chair for your viewing pleasure. See below for theme.

Theme - Our theme for this week is `Red, White & Blue Otters'. Dress as patriotic as possible and please take a moment to remember all those who are serving (or have served) our country.

No practice on Wednesday, July 4^th! Enjoy your holiday!

Pancake Breakfast – Thursday, July 5^th immediately following the team practice. Everyone is invited to enjoy a hot stack of pancakes, Little Otters and their `coaches' will have pancakes at 11:00. Please sign-up to bring some hot pancakes, juice or syrup for our hungry Otters.

`A' Meet – Our next A Meet is Saturday, July 7^th at home against Germantown. Please arrive at the pool by 7:45am. See above for theme.

Teen Pool Party - Saturday, July 7^th, 6:00-9:30pm.  All swimmers entering 8th grade and above are invited to a pool party with pizza, soda/water, music (we have a D.J.!), dancing & splashing. Otter team members are $5.00 each; guests (non-team members) are $10.00 each.  Bring your rafts and other water toys as well as a dessert to share. Sign up is on the Otter Bulletin Board at the Pool or by email to Mrs. McNamara at mqm117@comcast.net.  Please sign up by Thursday, July 5th.  Questions? Contact Maureen McNamara at 301-926-0919.  Payments can be cash or check (payable to QO Otters), please put payments in the "McNamara" folder or give to Thomas.

Volunteers! - Sign-up sheets are posted on the Team Bulletin Board prior to the events. We need all families to help out at the swim meets. If you have signed up to work in the pavilion during home meets, we are requesting that you do not bring your children to `work' with you, as it gets very hectic, crowded and unsafe in the pavilion and it makes it very difficult for the adults to do their job. Please see Cindy Whiteis if you have any questions. Thank-you!

Pizza & Pictures – The weather held out and we were able to get our pictures taken, no easy feat. Thanks to Karen Schwartzman for organizing this!

We also have a few budding singing talents on our swim team. Congratulations to all the singers, especially the Husted, Cassell, Drijas & Myer families for showcasing your talents!
